ÌÇÐÄVlog¹Ù·½ Online Test Proctoring

Information for Students

ÌÇÐÄVlog¹Ù·½'s Online Testing Team can help students locate approved off-campus, live proctors when necessary.

Most online courses do not require proctored exams. A few online courses may be designated as "online with in-person testing (OT)" and require all exams be taken with a live proctor. Please check your syllabus or contact your instructor to determine how you will be taking exams.

  • You do not need to find a proctor if you are directed to take exams on the main campus or other campus location.
  • If you wish to take your exam at the LCC Cottage Grove or Florence center, please:
    • contact the center (to find out if they are currently operating) and make an appointment to test
    • contact your instructor and ask if the exam can be made available at the center

If you:

  • have verified with your instructor/syllabus that you need to take a proctored exam, and
  • live outside of ÌÇÐÄVlog¹Ù·½ County

Please complete this Request for Outside Proctor , and we can assist with finding a proctor or approving one you've located.

Only an instructor can give permission to take an exam somewhere other than ÌÇÐÄVlog¹Ù·½. In addition, instructors are the only ones who can provide permission to take exams with a remote or virtual proctor in very rare cases. If you have approved accommodations through ÌÇÐÄVlog¹Ù·½'s Center for Accessible Resources, work through CAR to find an appropriate testing situation.

Most proctors outside of ÌÇÐÄVlog¹Ù·½'s campus will charge a fee per exam. Students are responsible for paying the fee and working with remote proctor scheduling systems and requirements.

Information for Faculty

Students who need to take a proctored exam outside of the Eugene area can reach out to our Online Testing Area for assistance with locating reputable proctors in their area. This is an optional contact; faculty may approve any testing situation that meets their needs.

Once we receive a request from a student to approve a proctor, we:

  • Contact the proctor to confirm they can meet our requirements for proctoring (ID verification, live proctoring, security of test materials, etc.)
  • Contact the instructor to share the request and the information about a proctor we've confirmed

Instructors are responsible for sending exam materials and instructions to the proctors directly.
