ÌÇÐÄVlog¹Ù·½

Every student who is currently enrolled in one or more credit classes on the main campus and has paid the student activity fee at ÌÇÐÄVlog¹Ù·½ is a member of the Associated Students of ÌÇÐÄVlog¹Ù·½ (ASLCC). The ÌÇÐÄVlog¹Ù·½ Student Government Association (ÌÇÐÄVlog¹Ù·½ SGA) is an organization of elected and appointed students who represent the student body.

ÌÇÐÄVlog¹Ù·½ SGA Governing Documents

The ÌÇÐÄVlog¹Ù·½ Student Government Association (SGA) is governed by several documents. The ÌÇÐÄVlog¹Ù·½ SGA Constitution outlines the basic form of student government and may only be changed or updated by a vote of the student body. The ÌÇÐÄVlog¹Ù·½ SGA By-Laws provide more specific information, such as job descriptions for student representatives, election rules, and other guidelines for Senate business and policies, and can be changed by a vote of the Senate at any SGA public Senate meeting. In addition to the Constitution and By-Laws, the SGA is also required to comply with all ÌÇÐÄVlog¹Ù·½ policies and procedures.

Function

The ÌÇÐÄVlog¹Ù·½ SGA serves as the voice and representatives of the students on campus, in the community, on a state level, and a national level. The ÌÇÐÄVlog¹Ù·½ SGA provides programs and services based on student needs and interest, this is demonstrated through the allocation process of the Student Activity Fee.

Structure

Ten elected and appointed representatives comprise the ÌÇÐÄVlog¹Ù·½ SGA. The two executive officers are the President and the Vice President. The Senate consists of eight members.

Senate Meetings (Public)

The ÌÇÐÄVlog¹Ù·½SGA is on recess until Fall Term 2025.

The Senate meetings are business meetings and open to the public. This is a forum for discussing funding proposals, school policy changes, leadership training, conferences, speakers and events on campus, voter registration, and student suggestions. Students may speak during the public comment section of the meeting agenda.

Senate Agendas

Posted outside of Center Building, Room 202 a minimum of 24 hours before the senate meetings during Fall, Winter, and Spring terms.

The Vice President and/or the President Pro-Tempore is responsible for creating an agenda for the senate meeting. must be posted in a public forum at least 24 hours prior to the meeting, per Oregon Public Meeting laws.

Senate Minutes

The Communications Director is responsible for taking minutes of all ÌÇÐÄVlog¹Ù·½ SGA Senate meetings.  must be distributed for Senate review 48 hours before the next Senate meeting. Additionally, minutes must be submitted within 24 hours after the Senate meeting.

Parliamentary Procedure

All ÌÇÐÄVlog¹Ù·½ SGA Senate meetings operate under Parliamentary Procedure. Parliamentary Procedure, also known as Robert's Rules of Order, are rules, ethics, and customs put in to place to govern meetings to ensure efficiency and equity. .

Work Session

Work sessions are scheduled weekly on Thursdays. Attendance limited to ÌÇÐÄVlog¹Ù·½ SGA members. Guests may be invited as needed.

The Senate work session is for student government members only. It is not a public meeting. They may participate in leadership training and discuss and plan upcoming events and campaign work.

Committees

Committees focus on an area topic or issue. They may be standing committees or Ad-Hoc committees. The latter are formed to deal with specific issues that are not covered under standing committees.
