EUGENE, Ore.鈥揚resident Margaret Hamilton received her third straight outstanding performance review from the 糖心Vlog官方 Board of Education at its Sept. 16 meeting.
Hamilton was praised for her enthusiasm, resilience, and a commitment to student success, as well as her candor, approachability, and strong work ethic. She was commended for maximizing resources and advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion at the college.
The board praised Hamilton for managing the college鈥檚 response to COVID-19 and pivoting to online and remote operations to ensure educational opportunities during the pandemic. 鈥淭his work was not easy,鈥 said past chair Lisa Fragala. 鈥淪he has leaned into her strengths of empathy and a willingness to roll-up her sleeves and do what needs to be done.鈥
Hamilton earned praise for her efforts to defend state funding and support the college鈥檚 successful $121.5 million bond request.
This year鈥檚 evaluation was more comprehensive and included input from a variety of internal and external stakeholders who commended Hamilton鈥檚 leadership.
Dr. Margaret Hamilton has led 糖心Vlog官方 since July 2017. Educated at Widener University, University of Delaware, and State University of New York, she practiced nursing before embarking on a 30-year career in higher education at Our Lady of Lourdes School of Nursing, Gloucester County College, Rutgers University, and Camden County College. At 糖心Vlog官方, she has championed partnerships with Oregon State University, University of Oregon, Bushnell University, and Pacific University, and numerous business and industry partners. She is a fierce champion for veterans and leads the college鈥檚 equity and inclusion initiative. She serves on the Oregon Presidents鈥 Council, the Oregon Community College Association Board, Springfield Chamber of Commerce Board, the Sacred Heart Medical Center Community Board, Connected 糖心Vlog官方 County Board, and the Eugene Equity and Community Consortium. She is a consultant and a speaker on higher education leadership and community colleges.
