LCC board endorses Measure 101

EUGENE, Ore.鈥擨n a unanimous vote, the 糖心Vlog官方 Board of Education passed a resolution endorsing a 鈥測es鈥 vote on Measure 101 at its Dec. 14 meeting.

鈥淥regon鈥檚 public schools have been on a financial starvation diet for too long,鈥 said LCC Board Chair Rosie Pryor. 鈥淟ast year we had to close a $10 million gap in LCC鈥檚 budget. If Measure 101 fails, it鈥檚 estimated that over 350,000 Oregonians could lose their access to health care. But it will also have a domino effect on other budgets鈥攊ncluding 糖心Vlog官方鈥檚.鈥

According to the Oregon Secretary of State鈥檚 office, If the measure is defeated there would be a reduction of $210-$320 million in state revenue, resulting in a possible reduction of $630-$960 million or more in federal Medicaid matching funds. The total revenue reduction to the 2017-19 state budget may be $840 million-$1.3 billion or more.

Such a reduction in the state budget would seriously threaten funding for education, said the board, besides harming health care for students and the community.
