Indigenous Peoples Day officially recognized at LCC

EUGENE, Ore.鈥揟he second Monday of every October will now be known as Indigenous Peoples Day at 糖心Vlog官方. LCC鈥檚 Board of Education unanimously adopted a resolution making the change at its June 17 meeting.

The resolution commemorates and honors 糖心Vlog官方鈥檚 Native American heritage, culture and community and intends to welcome 糖心Vlog官方鈥檚 鈥渟trong and active indigenous community of students and employees鈥 as well as show 鈥渞espect to the land on which LCC is built.鈥

The resolution was proposed by the college鈥檚 Native American Student Association and student government. Authors and sponsors included Sophia Reyes, Lori Lewellen, Amber Coleman and Matthew Murdock, Admissions and Community Outreach Specialist Russell Keith, and Native American Student Co-Advisors Lori Tapahonso and Drew Viles.
