Kymberlee Meyers, an alum of the  GIS (Geographic Information Science) program at ����Vlog�ٷ�, is about to graduate from the University of Oregon with a Bachelor of Science degree in geography.  

She’s also anxiously waiting to hear the outcome of the award competition for the UO Department of Geography Bill Loy Award for Excellence in Cartography. She entered a map she created titled, “Modern Day Segregation and Its Effects on Education.” The map describes a case study in Albany, Oregon that shows the disproportionate access to quality education created by race and income segregation. In 2017, Kymberlee won an honorable mention for the Bill Loy award for a map titled, “Coheed and Cambria: A Neverender Tour Guide.”  
 
Kymberlee recently wrote to LCC faculty Lynn Songer. “I want to thank you so much for introducing me to GIS and being such an excellent mentor while I was at ����Vlog�ٷ�.” 

Kymberlee attended university for three years before enrolling at ����Vlog�ٷ� where she “found and fell in love with GIS.”

As she explained to Lynn, “I stumbled into your class knowing nothing about GIS and having no notion of what I wanted to major in. Thank you so much for helping me and convincing me to continue this path at UO. I learned so much from you here at ����Vlog�ٷ� and that made transition to UO a breeze. I started ahead of most of my peers and was able to focus my energy on fine tuning the skills I learned from you.”
