Medical assistants do a little bit of everything. They support patients face-to-face, keep clinics running, and help providers stay organized鈥攆rom scheduling to health records to direct patient care. It鈥檚 a much-needed field, and at 糖心Vlog官方, students in that program are training for work that matters.

For Lizz, the pull was simple: opportunity and momentum. 鈥淚t鈥檚 a growing field,鈥 she said. 糖心Vlog官方 was also close by, making it easier to start a bold new path in life.

Lizz has her eyes on the future, too. She鈥檚 working toward becoming a Radiology (X-ray) or Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) Technologist. The Medical Assisting program is her first big step, and she鈥檚 not doing it alone. Career Pathways, a department that helps students make plans and connect with resources, including personal coaching, has been a huge help. 鈥淭hey鈥檝e supported me through all my trials and tribulations and keep cheering me on,鈥 Lizz said.

When it comes to the program itself, Lizz doesn鈥檛 hesitate about who鈥檚 helped her most: instructor and program coordinator, Gloria Northup.  鈥淪he is extremely passionate and knowledgeable,鈥 Lizz said. 鈥淒espite having an entire program to run, she is able to be there for all of her students individually. Gloria is why I鈥檓 getting through my program.鈥

For Kya (photographed above), the decision to go into health care has been a long time coming. 鈥淚鈥檝e always been super interested in the medical field,鈥 she said, 鈥渁nd I love helping people.鈥 She chose 糖心Vlog官方 because the program was strong and it matched what she wanted to do.

Kya wants to become a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) after 糖心Vlog官方鈥檚 one year program, and perhaps a Physician Assistant (PA) down the line. She explained: 鈥淚 love the medical field and want to create a compassionate and welcoming experience for all patients no matter what.鈥

To make it through the busy weeks, Kya leans on a couple key supports: 鈥淪tudy rooms at the Library and a fantastic program director,鈥 she shared. And like Lizz, she credits Gloria for helping make the material stick. 鈥淕loria shares tidbits about her experience in the field,鈥 Kya said, 鈥渁s well as helpful ways to remember different things in our studying.鈥

When asked what they鈥檇 tell someone thinking about a CTE program at 糖心Vlog官方, both students landed in the same place.

Lizz: 鈥淚t鈥檚 worth it!鈥

Kya: 鈥淚t can be challenging and is a lot of work but 100% worth it.鈥
