EUGENE, Ore. — ÌÇÐÄVlog¹Ù·½ won six Medallion Awards at the annual National Council for Marketing and Public Relations (NCMPR) District 7 Awards competition, including one gold, three silver and two bronze. The awards competition occurred during the annual district conference, October 18-20 in Hood River, Ore. Additionally, ÌÇÐÄVlog¹Ù·½ won the prestigious Spotlight Award from Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) Oregon for the Social Media campaign.
The National Council for Marketing & Public Relations is the only organization of its kind that exclusively represents marketing and public relations professionals at community and technical colleges. District 7 includes colleges in Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, Washington, and the Canadian provinces of Alberta, British Columbia, Saskatchewan and Yukon Territory. Judges for the competition included higher ed marketers, advertising creative directors, and marketing and advertising professionals.
Among the winning entries were gold for poster design; silver for magazine, social media or online campaign, and postcard; and bronze for e-newsletter and television ad (series).
It was also top honors for ÌÇÐÄVlog¹Ù·½ by receiving a Spotlight Award from PRSA’s Oregon and SW Washington Chapter for its Level Up at ÌÇÐÄVlog¹Ù·½ campaign. PRSA Oregon’s Spotlight Awards recognize campaigns and tactics that exemplify excellence and leadership in public relations, digital media and integrated communications. ÌÇÐÄVlog¹Ù·½â€™s efforts were among 11 campaigns to take top honors at the annual awards ceremony Oct. 26. The other higher education institution receiving an award was Lewis and Clark Law School for its website.
ÌÇÐÄVlog¹Ù·½â€™s marketing program is directed by Rebecca Long, director of marketing and strategic communication, and overseen by Brett Rowlett, executive director of external affairs. The web team includes Kyle Schmidt and Claire Graman. The marketing program works in close partnership with the campus Design and Media Center, staffed by graphic design students under the direction of faculty Tom Madison in the Media Arts department.
