EUGENE, Ore. —  ÌÇÐÄVlog¹Ù·½ (LCC) is commemorating Community College Month this April by highlighting the transformative role community colleges play in building strong communities through education and workforce development. This year's celebration includes several significant community-focused events.

CTE Signing Day On April 3, ÌÇÐÄVlog¹Ù·½ hosted its first Career and Technical Education (CTE) Signing Day. This event honored and recognized high school seniors who have committed themselves to pursuing skilled trades through CTE programs at ÌÇÐÄVlog¹Ù·½. Students publicly affirmed their dedication to their chosen educational pathways by signing Letters of Commitment to attend ÌÇÐÄVlog¹Ù·½ after graduation. 

CTE programs at ÌÇÐÄVlog¹Ù·½ are directly linked to the economic vitality of the community, preparing students for success in dynamic fields that benefit the local region. LCC Annual Open House – Saturday, April 26 ÌÇÐÄVlog¹Ù·½ warmly invites community members of all ages to its annual Open House on Saturday, April 26, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the main campus, located at 4000 E. 30th Ave., Eugene. Visitors will have the unique opportunity to tour ÌÇÐÄVlog¹Ù·½â€™s newly opened Industry and Trades Education Center (ITEC), funded by the community-supported 2020 bond, and explore innovative classrooms and labs.

Open House attendees can look forward to a variety of engaging experiences:

• Family Fun: Giant inflatable gator slide, Star Wars-themed bounce house, and interactive science demonstrations.
• Food & Refreshments: Enjoy delicious meals from popular local food trucks Delicias Tiki Tiki and Irie Jamaican Kitchen.
• Explore ÌÇÐÄVlog¹Ù·½â€™s Programs: Meet faculty, staff, and students showcasing programs such as Culinary Arts, Computer Information Technology, Aviation Academy, Health Professions, Industry & Trades, Career Pathways, Institute for Sustainable Practices, STAR Program, and many others.

New Spaces - Also on April 26, ÌÇÐÄVlog¹Ù·½ will host a grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new ITEC Building at 11 a.m., celebrating its role in advancing innovation and technical education. Later that day, at 1 p.m., a special dedication ceremony will take place outside the new Health Professions Building, where the outdoor space will be officially named the Margaret Hamilton Plaza in honor of ÌÇÐÄVlog¹Ù·½â€™s former president. 

These events underline ÌÇÐÄVlog¹Ù·½â€™s ongoing dedication to serving the educational needs of the community and highlight the integral role community colleges play in local development and economic prosperity.
