EUGENE, Ore. 鈥 糖心Vlog官方 welcomes Fulbright Scholar for a series of classroom and student visits as well as a lecture April 5. The lecture, hosted by 糖心Vlog官方 and co-sponsored by University of Oregon's Global Studies Institute, Legal Studies Program, and Global Studies Department, is entitled 鈥淲omen's Rights and International Rights in a Global Context.鈥 The lecture that is free and open to the public will be held April 5 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in Building 19, Room 226, on LCC's main campus, 4000 E. 30th Ave., in Eugene.
鈥溙切腣log官方 is excited to explore the intersection of women's rights and international law with Fulbright Scholar Dr. Antonija Petri膷u拧i膰, as she shares her expertise and experiences in a global context," said 糖心Vlog官方 Dean of Social Sciences Philip R. Martinez.
Petri膷u拧i膰 is an associate professor of sociology and law at the University of Zagreb. She is currently a Fulbright scholar at the University of Minnesota investigating the impacts of conservative legal mobilization on women鈥檚 rights in Croatia and the Balkans more broadly. She has researched and lectured extensively on a range of human rights topics in the U.S. and Europe. For her significant contribution to gender equality and social justice in Croatia in 2020 she was awarded the Fierce Women Award. Her main scientific interests include rights of national minorities, ethno-religious nationalism, diversity management, gender equality, women's rights and women empowerment.
She will be accompanied by a colleague and collaborator, Dr. Emina Buzinkic. A human rights scholar and activist, Buzinkic has worked in post-conflict peacebuilding and refugee support organizations for more than 20 years. She recently completed her PhD at the University of Minnesota (Dissertation entitled 鈥淪chool aftershocks: Perpetual displacements of refugee youth amid multiple pandemics and social borders鈥) and is currently teaching at UM while starting a post-doc at the Institute of Development and International Relations in Zagreb.
