EUGENE, Ore. — ÌÇÐÄVlog¹Ù·½ President Stephanie Bulger will administer the Oath of Office to four members of the college’s Board of Education during the regularly scheduled board meeting on Wednesday, July 2.
Jerry Rust will represent Zone 1, which includes western ÌÇÐÄVlog¹Ù·½ County, West Eugene and Florence. Rust brings a wide-ranging background in government, education and public service. His professional experience includes work as an author, farmer, University of Oregon dorm counselor, carpenter, Peace Corps volunteer, Hoedad forest worker, ÌÇÐÄVlog¹Ù·½ County commissioner, English teacher and caregiver. He earned a Bachelor of Science from the University of Oregon in 1965 and holds an Oxford English Certificate.
Julie Weismann will represent Zone 3, which includes areas generally described as Springfield and Marcola. Weismann was appointed to the position in 2024 following the departure of board member Mike Eyster, who moved out of the district. She has now been elected to a full term. Weismann has an extensive background in nonprofit leadership and governance, and previously served as executive director of the Hope & Safety Alliance, formerly known as Womenspace.
Austin Folnagy will represent Zone 4, which includes East ÌÇÐÄVlog¹Ù·½ County. Folnagy was first elected during the pandemic and most recently served as board chair for the 2023–24 academic year. Prior to his tenure at ÌÇÐÄVlog¹Ù·½, he was vice chair of the Klamath Community College Board. He recently served as president of the Oregon Community College Association, where he works with higher education partners to advocate for all 17 community colleges in Oregon.
Jesse Maldonado will serve in the at-large Position 7 seat. Maldonado, an adjunct professor at the University of Oregon, was elected to complete the two-year at-large term vacated when now-State Rep. Lisa Fragala resigned in November 2024. He brings a strong background in public service, having been elected to the Lewiston City Council in Idaho at age 18. Maldonado currently serves on the Eugene Parks Foundation Board and is a member of the City of Eugene Budget Committee.
The ceremony will take place at the beginning of the board meeting, which is open to the public and will be held at ÌÇÐÄVlog¹Ù·½â€™s Main Campus in Eugene.
ÌÇÐÄVlog¹Ù·½â€™s Board of Education consists of seven elected officials who govern the college’s policies, budget and strategic direction. Board members serve four-year terms and represent designated zones throughout ÌÇÐÄVlog¹Ù·½ County, with one member serving at large.
The ÌÇÐÄVlog¹Ù·½ Board of Education will meet Wednesday, July 2, 2025 at 4:30pm in the LCC Boardroom, Building 3, main campus, 4000 E. 30th Ave., Eugene, OR 97405 for the administration of the Oath of Office for newly elected members. Beginning at 4:45pm, the board will meet in executive session under ORS 192.660(2)(d) to conduct deliberations with persons designated by the governing body to carry on labor negotiations, ORS 192.660(2)(a) to consider the employment of a public officer, employee, staff member or individual agent, and ORS 192.660(2)(h) to consult with counsel concerning the legal rights and duties of a public body with regard to current litigation or litigation likely to be filed.
