COMMUNITY SHARING Members were asked to share newsworthy items from their company and the IT community. Ollie Brown said that the Oregon Judicial Dept. has a Coop-Ed student working in Salem from Vlogٷ this term. The E-Court (electronic records) project should be completed by next Dec. It provides a public portal to the court records that enables online filings. It will provide more accessible hours and reduce paper. Jim Marks reported that Vlogٷ Countys latest projects were upgrading to Server 2008, a new election system to handle the new ballots, a new land permitting system to be utilized state-wide(developed by Accel Automation System), and locator devices in County vehicles. Otto Radke stated that NCCU was examining their operational efficiencies of staffing. In the public arena, they are looking at Social Banking, i.e. sharing of financial information using social media. But they are also cognizant of the latest Google information scandal over credit card number printouts via twitter. Ted Glick said that EWEB has four major applications. They just finished implementing an ETRS system four months ago. It is Java-based with an Oracle backend. Their second major system is a Power Trading System application. The third, a Customer Information System will be upgraded this summer (also using Oracle). The fourth is a Financial Management system currently in PowerBuilder/Sybase but migrating to the .Net environment this summer. The EWEB maintenance facilities is moving to their new location in October, but most IT staff will still be at EWEBs river-side location. Tony Saxman commented that the UofO in continuing to consolidate their Active Directory Domain. The College of Business was the pilot migration. There were some bumps, mainly on remote & mobile devices. The next phase will migrate individual servers onto University-wide Exchange Servers. The Business school facility renovations are almost complete. They are now completing the last building. Dennis Chong said that there have being no huge changes lately at Symantec. There has been repackaging of software into suites and backup system changes, both for improved sales. However, it doesnt affect the support part of the organization. The plate was also presented to Thea Albright (in absentia). College/Department report Linda Loft reported that Stacy Shultz has resigned as Division Dean and we are in process of hiring an Interim Division dean. Reports showing the increased enrollment were handed out. CIT is handling twice the number of students that it had two years ago. Resources such as classroom space and faculty have been more than maxed-out. Questions were posed regarding future employment for CIT students and dropouts from the programs. Indications based on both economic reports and actual student hiring from Coop Ed placements currently shows IT as a leading indicator of economic recovery. Speaker System Dennis said there was not much progress on this since the last meeting. Larry asked for suggestions. Lorraine said Next Step Recycling had created a Google site website for updating their list of repair technicians which worked well. Computer Programming, A.A.S. Program Mari Good talked about the affect of taking the program out of the catalog for a year and the need to reinstate it so CIT students have more major options. She reviewed the new changes in the Computer Programming degree for this year and talked about the changes which will begin next fall. Students will finish their degree with six solid terms of programming including five terms of C#. They are also encouraged to take two terms of PHP electives which will give them some exposure to the Open Source platform in addition to .NET. Additional program requirements are data base courses and system analysis/software methodology courses. Were looking for new part-time faculty with background in several areas including agile development methodologies/Scrum framework. More questions arose regarding additional staff to teach these classes. Mari responded with the number of new sections to be substituted for previous course offerings. Discussion ensued regarding eventually ability of students to transfer into 4yr programs. Tony Saxman asked about the number of project-based courses and suggested that students be encouraged to develop portfolios from the projects. Health Informatics activity Update Larry reported that two of the HIT community college grants have come in. OHSU was selected as one of five medical universities to develop a national curriculum in the HIT area. OHSU will be the national center for dissemination for the curricula. Community colleges will start implementing the training this Fall. The curriculum from these grants will feed into CITs two HIT degrees (A.A.S. & 4yr-transfer program). Other Jim Bailey asked for volunteers to help with the review & revision of the Gamming Program curriculum that will happen this summer. Otto Radke volunteered to help. The following topics were postponed until the Fall meeting Cooperative Education: Expectations for students and mentors CIT Advisory board projects Members were thanked for their attendance and the meeting adjourned at 5:00 p.m. Respectfully Submitted, Linda Loft Committee Co-Coordinator eCopies: Advisory Committee Members fklntvw ! # * + , H Q S [ ^ v w շ˷˩˷vՀlbl˷hsGCJOJQJhdi]CJOJQJhQ7CJOJQJhFCJOJQJhUCJOJQJhV`CJOJQJhdm2>*CJOJQJhdm2h?CJOJQJh "CJOJQJhJCJOJQJhdm2CJOJQJh ~CJOJQJh5CJOJQJh<.CJOJQJhdm25CJOJQJ\"+BCfuvw0 Z [ q h`hgdFgd1Ygd.%gdY & F $a$$a$gd!w x / 0 > L N [ e g s " ⹯ΥιΗÍؗ}qaq}qhFhFCJH*OJQJaJhFCJOJQJaJh "CJOJQJaJh.%hv9.CJOJQJhdm2hFCJOJQJh0$ CJOJQJhdi]CJOJQJhV`CJOJQJhdm2>*CJOJQJhdm2CJOJQJh1YCJOJQJh ~CJOJQJh?CJOJQJhH'CJOJQJ"" 0 = E F V W X Y Z [ \ ^ _ p q ĸtgZJ=1h`7ZCJOJQJaJhdm25CJOJQJaJhYhdm25CJOJQJaJhY5CJOJQJaJh`7Z5CJOJQJaJh1Y5CJOJQJaJhYCJOJQJhYhYCJOJQJaJhYh9wCJOJQJaJhYhdm2CJOJQJaJhNLCJOJQJaJhCJOJQJaJh1YCJOJQJaJh?CJOJQJaJh "CJOJQJaJhdi]CJOJQJaJ ! 4 5 7 8 F ` e , . ? tteYMhFCJOJQJaJh[CJOJQJaJhRhFCJOJQJaJh!MCJOJQJaJh6CJOJQJaJhR6CJOJQJaJhFhF6CJOJQJaJh(CJOJQJaJhFCJOJQJaJhRCJOJQJaJhV.CJOJQJaJh1YCJOJQJaJh`7ZCJOJQJaJhUxh`7ZCJOJQJaJ?
